Almost all military endeavours require the use of specialist equipment in order to be carried out efficiently. In most cases this equipment is made by legions utilising the 'constructing' ability as the frontline skill. Construction of materials of war is documented in HELP MATERIALS.
All legions have inventories - representing the resources, the armaments and the warfare engines available to the legion for use on the battlefield or in whatever missions they are sent to complete.
Syntax: LEGION INVENTORY <legion>.
Using LEG INV <legion> will reveal all the legion has in its inventory or quartermaster's stores. Summary of weapon, armour and cavalry percentages are in LEGION INFO <legion>.
Legions carry their equipment as well as anything collected on their tours of duty and while some things are not encumbering (like a piece of armour, which is worn) others known as "great articles of war" require a lot of men to use and even more to move around. The great articles slow a legion down. If encumbered it takes longer to arrange formations and recovery after a quickstep or location move is slower. This is a critical factor on the battlefield. Great articles include the catapults, the battering rams and the water transports.
Syntax: LEGION EQUIP <legion> <item type> [<how many>]
The legion will take the item you specify - one or as many as you designated - from the location and into its inventory.
Syntax: LEGION UNEQUIP <legion> <item type> [<how many>]
Commands the legion to remove the item from its quartermaster stores (or inventory) and place it in the location before you.
NOTE: legions will remain equipped while in the field, and will retain spoils of war for return to the homeland but when home (in barracks, in training, interior locations not on foreign soil) they will attempt to store non-military equilibrium in the location.
