The Sirens

Back to WorldBardsSirens

The Sirens Guild emphatically departs from well-mannered Bards to become torturers and masters of manipulation. It is a violent guild, dedicated to the combat excellence within the Bard profession.

Founded on the 27th day of Mournsend 1382 by Necrophona, the Sirens are located in Thakria. They have the profession of Sorcerer and the guild alignment of Diabolical

Introduction

The Siren cajoles their enemies into mistake and inevitable failure. As a bard, the siren is a masterful dramatist, musician, and singer, threading between each performance the powerful Voice of Command and wielding hypnotic suggestion to torturous and deadly effect. They are complex people with multi-faceted, sometimes contradictory, personalities. They encounter all with reckless enthusiasm, to attain masterful use of the most sinister secrets of their profession.

The Sirens Guild in Thakria emerged from a schism in the Bards Guild during the fourteenth century, where Thakrians Zio, Krystal, and Necrophona championed the profession as well or better than their more senior guildmates. With no solution in sight, both sides agreed to the divide hitherto considered taboo. With additional funding from Thakria, a guildhouse on the cliffs of Moonstone Lake became today's Sirens Guild, brought into existence after years of planning by Necrophona, the Elven Temptress. She went on to become Princess of Thakria, and then Queen, with a long list of those who detested her and fell dead at her command in combat and the fields of war. Nevertheless, many despite their reservations deferred to her soft and enthusiastic manner with the young and novice.

The founder's schizophrenic personality went on to embody Siren mentality. The Sirens Guild continues from strength to strength since its early years and, despite the split from the Bards Guild, it boasts an aggressive membership that never compared poorly to their estranged siblings. They maintain absolute loyalty to Thakria and become one of the pillars of its society, beside the Cavalier, Sorcerer, Seer, and Thief, and they continue to dominate the field of combat, war, and political machination.

Words of Necrophona, first guildmaster

On the midnight winds of Thakria beneath Trekker's Tower, you can sometimes hear the bitter-sweet song of loneliness cutting across the dark with its beauty. It calls to anyone near the dark cliffs and traps their mind and soul in rapturous and delicious abandon. Oh, to fall off the cliff with that plaintive Siren's call still in your ears, what blissful death!

The Sirens sing to lure, to haunt, to tease and to torture. They live in that dark, shifting den of dangerous notes, imperious voices and tragic arts, and it is where they hone their most deadly shapes and sounds. To act with the face of an angel and slay without remorse like a demon, but not a wanton slaughter.

They possess and slay beautifully from within. They were founded in 1382 to be a no-nonsense combat wing of the Bard profession. The Bard can be evil, sadistic, twisted, demonic, tempting or just violent, with all their abilities to tear you apart inside out. The Sirens are based in Thakria and have a Thakrian mentality to fighting with everything you have, but its membership is also open to Parrian citizens.
