Bloodlust is a gift from the Gods. You gain bloodlust when you slay individuals, the amount of bloodlust gained being determined by their skills relative to yours. Your bloodlust determines the extent of your suffering when slain by another player; higher bloodlust will result in greater experience loss, and possibly even safe encounters with death. Your bloodlust can, depending on the current state of the land, influence who you can and cannot fight with. If you have a high bloodlust you will be restricted from fighting with smaller mortals, likewise they will be equally restricted from fighting with you. Bloodlust is gained according to the stature of an opponent you slay (more bloodlust gained for killing a smaller opponent) and also for certain acts like stealing and defiling.
Bloodlust can be reduced by bathing bodies or performing penances. It also goes down a little each day if over 10% until under 10%; the rest must be purged pro-actively.
Syntax: LUSTS.
Shows you current players as possible targets along with your relative bloodlust and fighting/skill worth, assessing whether or not you would be able to attack or be attacked by the player.
Bloodlust is a percentage, up to 100%.
Bloodlust prevents combat between someone with high bloodlust and someone whose bloodlust is low, depending on their relative fighter worth assessments (how good they fight, how high their skills). Higher bloodlust makes it more likely the combat is restricted. Challenge and duel bypass all bloodlust factors.
NOTE: when you are standing on enemy city territory you will NOT be protected by bloodlust restrictions.
You may type FIGHTING ON at any time to cast aside any protection from bloodlust shielding. This allows you to fight freely at times of great emergency where otherwise bloodlust might restrict your ability to attack higher-ranked fighters whose personal lust would otherwise provide you shielding from aggression. You will not give bloodlust when slain, when you have FIGHTING ON activated. Type FIGHTING OFF again to reverse this. Those with "true fighter" rank will automatically have fighting pose; no bloodlust protections.
The FIGHTING ON or FIGHTING OFF choice can be made just once per Avalon year and the decision is reset at New Year, ready to be made afresh if you so desire.
