Written by Zakath, then military commander of Thakria in the middle of the 12th century, about a war for supremacy in the middle Greenwood region with the village of Eleusis as the central point of this key geographical area. Eleusis indeed saw the two cities clash...
Spurred on by the military successes from the prancing folk in the North the Generals of the City of Light sought to take advantage of the chaos and boldly marched 4000 Mercinaens and 1500 Knights to wrest control of the vassal town of Eleusis from Thakrian control. Iorwenn, ever vigilant relayed her message to the loremistress Sowenna who urgently alerted our Commanders and Barons.
Zerina and I rushed to the scene and surveyed the area, taking care to avoid the noisy and intrepid legions who lay in wait. Our rapid reaction forces were discovered and we were repelled by superior numbers and the combined might of the prancing folk and the citizens of light.
We retreated, brooding and planning, what to do with our most powerful
and most lethal citizens absent and away. We formulated a plan and with great advice from an absolute expert in
Warfare orders were relayed to our citizens large and small. Plaman, Zwartia and Sowenna were entrusted with guiding their legions to Eleusis, whilst Zamphere and Parallax secured the area with their powerful magics. The others, Vaash, Lucifer, Steel, Llelwyn, Zerina, Mydraal and Myself resolved to keep our enemy commanders occupied.
The Marshall of the City of Light appeared, cursing his own boldness and arrogance he sought to reach his legions backed by Maverick and Thamior. However this Marshall had been too accustomed to preying on those much smaller than him, and of those of equal might always using superior numbers. With the tables reversed, he moaned, whined, cried and swore, yet he could not reach his legions such was the dedication of our noble citizens.
In despair, The prince of the City of Light disappeared, the Marshall himself hid and cowered under the Book of Justice, the powerful Maverick departed leaving Thamior alone, for the springdalian allies had long since deserted Mercinae.
Despite his youth, his bravery outshone his Barons and his Elders as he repeatedly braved the onslaught in desperate attempts to reach his legions.
But nothing would save those who dared entered the town of Eleusis for our hardened Troops swept in from the west gate destroying everything in their path and liberating Iorwenn our loyal vassal from the Mercinaen hoardes. Thus did the Battle of Eleusis 1154 end.
