You know, I experienced that exact situation. I had two Ultimate level skills, and three Grand-Master level skills, the rest wern't noteworthy.
Yet every day, every Avalon Month, I died, died, and died yet again. I recall shipping at least one a day, and on some, shipping over 6 times. On top of that, it was Ender. I wasn't able to hide in the treetops, and I had no stockroom to call my own, nor a Patron and His temple to rest in.
It was a pure run-or-die situation, yet I persisted. This brought me to increase my reflexs, expand the knowledge of my existing skills. Through this I learned to defend myself, while attacking back at the same time. It helped. Without it, I don't think I'd be nearly the fighter I am today.
Fighting is good, and its best when you can't control when its going to happen. If you can't hide, your FORCED to learn.
