My interest in this sort of Quest is fairly apparent and I've been kicking around the idea of a Javalon based gem quest for a quite a while. In its purest form there seem to be some major problems with the concept.
I've been playing around on Javalon in preparation for my competition with Zakath and have an important point to note; even with practice the speed you are able to input commands are react the world around you seems to be significantly slower. While
fighting against a Knight I have not found this to be major problem, however I would fear for anyone's ability to survive against a half-competent sorcerer.
I will freely admit that on my usual client I am better against Knights than I am against Sorcerers, however as most of the current Sorcerers will agree, (in single combat) I generally do ok. But with so many of the sorcerer's attacks being \"automatic
\", the angel of death for example, and the volume of scroll generated, I could easily see a fairly average Sorcerer working away with a Gem simply by turning up with enough gold in a cauldron.
Most other professions have a nice generic defence that mostly works, Knights - Fullparry, Loremasters - Pentacle, Mages - Pentacle (and leaving the location), Bards - Deaf/Blind, Rangers - Pentacle, Malloran. Not so with Sorcerers.
Anyway, at the danger of a sensible debate on the Fighters bb, discuss.
