The chillum is a less civilised version of the common pipe. It is used for smoking tobacco and other relaxing, social produce whose burn is sympathetic to the process of bowl, tube and pull (of the lips).
The chillum may be an earlier creation than the pipe and more associated with wild tribes and wanderers than learned guild elders but this is misleading. There are a few types of chillum but all are at least a match for the pipe, i..e. as a way to quickly administer a dose of some healing herb or apposite poison.
Syntax: CHILLUMS.
Shows you the chillums you are holding and the contents of each.
Syntax: CHILLUM FILL <herb/poison>.
To fill your chillum with another prepared herb or poison. The chillum may have multiple compartments, in which case it can be used for as many herbs as there are compartments - concurrently - single chillum - without worry of it losing its flame.
NOTE: unlike the pipe, the chillum is not limited only to smoked-prepared herbs and poisons but can exact a dose from ANY herb/poison.
Syntax: CHILLUM <herb/poison>.
Takes a toke of the herb or poison you specify and if it is in a compartment, your short gasp of vapour will provide a dose directly.
The chillum is almost always able to match the number of doses extracted from a single prepared herb or poison and since it is possible to pack the chillum - even if it has only one compartment - with multiple prepared herbs/poisons - it can be stocked to provide for your needs far in advance.
It is possible to get some amazing chillums from the old curiosity shop as trinkets but there are everyday chillums to be found by performing tasks or completing quests. As a clue those tasks or quests involving smokers of the pipeleaf are the best way to lay hands on a chillum. Sylvanfolk can carve chillums under certain circumstances but only those with advanced specialist knowledge and under the watchful eye of an eose can find their modern whittling and woodworking recalling the old ways, ancestor craft from before folk lived in cities and the eose and wood-people were plentiful; when the elfkind still walked the mysterious paths with arcane and dawn magic and serenity not yet forgotten...
