30.3 Current info on the divine sapphire.

Time marches ever onwards and Avalon has moved into the start of a new cycle. Quests are to recommence in the search for the next illustrious contenders for divinity. Quests of all varieties in which all Avalonians are welcome.

To establish a new tradition, the most recently ordained deity is to run the first of the fourteen divine gemquests. See HELP ORDINATION for details on the underlyig purposes of these quests; the attainment of Avalon's greatest prize... not only does victory bestow the right to contend for godhood but also each gem brings with it great powers.

Thus, then, the curtain rises on a new season and Loki, the god of fire, will be the deity officiating the opening contest.

The first gem quest in the search for a new member of the pantheon will be held on Saturday, June 21st. I, Loki, will be presiding over the quest for the DIVINE SAPPHIRE. The multi-layered quest will begin at 8PM by the Avalon clock (type TIME to see the current Avalon clock time). Specifics may be posted on the bulletin board but will also be written out in this helpfile; feel free to ask me if you want further hints.

The Sapphire is the gem of Equilibrium, so expect a balanced contest. However with the upcoming warfare additions, it would be wise to expect the scales to be tipped in that direction. The divine sapphire is one of the most important and powerful of the divine gems, its fundamental power is to half the time taken to recover equilibrium; a major boon by anyone's standards.

I encourage all to participate. If you needed reminding, this is the first step on the road to the ultimate prize, so prepare yourselves. The sapphire quests traditionally mix knowledge of the land with competitive conflict and this one will be no exception.
