CORAL GEM QUEST INFORMATION
ALL MORTALS
Unless you are a participant in the gem quest, DO NOT TOUCH the following
-Oars, -Shipwheels, -Gant Warriors, -Gant Pikeman, -Letters laying near any of these things with anvil runes attached.
Since most of these items are unique to the land, it will be easy for my divine vision to spy out any who possess these items who should not. (I have the item numbers of all the letters too)
GEM QUEST EVENTS
First stage will be an elimination round. I will travel to locations meaningful to me and intone the location description. The first person to arrive and greet me by name (Greetings Proteus, Hail Proteus) will receive points. After a number of such encounters, the two people with the most points will be named team captains. The captains with be the contenders for my gem and shall lead their teams through a series of tasks to prove their worth.
The second stage will require good planning, judgment and strategy by the captains. Picking a team comprised of smart advisors and lieutenant leaders will be just as important as having a team with a wide range of skills.
Throughout this stage bonus points will be awarded to the team holding a replica of my Conch of the Tides at the end of every half hour. Be warned though, the replica shares the same slippery attributes as the divine sands. At this time, boon and banes will be actively helping and hindering their teams.
The first part will be a flagquest with a twist. In addition to capturing your opponent's flag, additional points will be awarded if you can find and raise your team's bonus flag. No points will be awarded for raising the opponent's bonus flag.
The teams will then move on to the scavenger hunt following clues from place to place. The team who returns to the meeting place with the most objects in their possession will win this stage.
IMPORTANT NOTE: During this stage, you MAY NOT pick up your opposing team*l
objects. You may delay, divert, slay, trick, etc the other team, but you may not steal their objects or their clues. It is very easy for me to track if you do, so don't.
You may seek the objects in any manner you like and don't necessarily have to follow the order of the clues. However, to prevent the clues and objects from being found during the "Find Proteus" phase, they won't be distributed until the flagquest starts. If the flagquest concludes before I have completed the distribution, a strategy of sending all team members out in all directions may result in people passing by a place where a clue is subsequently placed. Also, occasionally a task best performed by a
group must be completed before a clue is received.
BOON & BANE
After the teams have been chosen, a boon and bane will be appointed on each team from among those who have volunteered for the task. The boons will be made aware of the resources at their disposal. The banes will take the task of trying to sabotage their team without being identified (which may include keeping cool when people try to bluff by randomly saying "I know you are the bane.") The longer a bane stays truly undiscovered while effectively slowing his/her teamfter the gem quest.
