So we have our three main 'strata' of players: NOVICE/LW, MW, and MIDDLING
and each should be treated with a little consideration for their stature,
effectiveness, rank etc. It is only SENIOR players for whom the \"if you
can't stand the heat... \" attitude should apply fully. The rest need just a
and also HELP SADISM.
LW: most people have the attitude right here. They don't get attacked,
they don't get messed around, they are to be allowed to learn and develop
through junior phase so the end-result player makes the land a better more
MW: problems here. Rule of thumb: if the MW hasn't attacked you, you don't
initiate. If you're particularly sadistic you might attack once a season
and no stripping or 'after effect' bonus bullying. The MW gets to choose
whether he/she is persecuted. MW not starting the fight = MW left alone to
develop just like the LW. The only exceptions are direct contests where combat
is a legitimate component like the enlistment spawn where dozens are
competing for bribes/enlistment. The MW stepping into this area is an ME
prepared to take the short term consequences. Ship ride ends it, though,
unless/until the MW steps in again.
MIDDLING players are, for now, left to your individual judgment how far to
punish and persecute. But look here: show restraint. Let the all young
mature according to their lights and their mettle. Driving small to middling
players to despair is a fools errand. It just depopulates the crucible and
ensures everyone (bully includes) lives in an Avalon with less colour,
less challenge and eventually less fun for all.
