There are two new farming abilities added to the land: \"meadows\" and
\"breeding\". These related to the nurturing of animals, pastoral-style, and
will initially allow you to breed bulls/cows, stallions/mares, rams/ewes
as sheep and - shortly - rabbits. You may have noticed a new building
can be constructed: the paddock. In grassland locations (of which the
paddock pasture is one) you can tend meadows. These meadows then provide
a home and food for animals. They will also be the backdrop for
relations between males and female animals, potential pregnancies (often
with breeder encouragement) and subsequent birthings.
It is entirely up to you how and for what purpose you might decide to
turn your hand to a little pastoral work. Perhaps simply for the love
of it, perhaps to breed horses for your armies, perhaps for milk and wool,
or possibly with a view to future career as a butcher or a tanner. Look
after your livestock, keep the safe from predators and ensure they have
enough food in their meadows to remain healthy and fertile and contented.
Soon, perhaps, the continentwide shortages of leather and wool, or the
lack of cavalry mounts for large armies - this and more may be things of
