You are quite right in your sentiments, as is Angharad. Novices do need
guidance, but they should be guided to what suits them as individuals.
Most have an idea of what they want to be, fighter, magical, healer, good
or evil and this is usually easily translated into a few suitabl;e choices.
It is up to us all to then advise them in a totally unbiased manner as
to what is best for them, even if this means directing them into the
arms of our enemies. This can only be right because a novice situated in
the wrong guild is of little or no use to anyone, including themselves.
The above should go without saying, but perhaps its time to just underline
it while the subject is up for discussion.
