In short, yes, I would actively encourage you to use intelligent tactics.
Obviously this requires common sense too. '... tactically temporarily joining
forces to bring down [a guild] if they are too far in the lead' is perfectly
good use of tactics.
What I mean by common sense however is this: the Loremasters are currently
way ahead of any other guild. If you see a Loremaster engaged in battle,
why not try and kill the Loremaster and then kill his/her opponent too? If you feel though that a quick shake of the hands with one of your fellow competitors is needed in order for you to chase down the Loremasters then by all means. I would prefer to see these alliances as temporary however. The main reason for me stressing no alliances at the beginning of the tournament was so that you all understood that this isn't a city battle.
