The first universally undesirable aspect of the current (and at times,
past) gameplay we will be dealing with is the whole teaming and
'power-stripping' trend. The whole approach of watching on
challenges and then immediately group-ambushing one of the
parties is wrong and detrimental to the development of quality
interplay.
The DUELLING system will be introduced. This will allow people to
enter into single or group combats, be protected from external
interference, and maintain protected status if they held it
beforehand. Duelling will require mutual/group assent and will
allow combat despite protection and such. Full details will be
written up in forthcoming helpfiles. The aim here is to allow
the protected a means of entering into combat, pitting themselves
against a foe, without being exploited afterwards. Likewise,
the strongly outnumbered individual would be able assert himself
even against a large, less competent group. Avalon was founded on
individual and smaller group combat and this aspect of the game
should return.
This is the first of half a dozen fairly widespread additions. Comments
and suggestions are welcome to me directly. Avoid the lengthy posts.
