Proteus, god of the seato Everyone

I am pleased to announce that I will be running a quest for a divine gem this Saturday, September 15th at 8pm by the Avalon clock (3pm EDT/12pm PDT).

Contrary to my previously stated plans, this one will be combat oriented as I have come by a scheme that will require the strategy of chess rather than sheer numbers battering themselves against each other.

The quest will be run in two phases and ALL present at the appointed time may participate in the second phase regardless of skill or pacifist stance.

The first phase is to chose the two finalist strategists for the meat of the quest. The top 16 ranked people in Avalon who are present and willing to do battle at 8pm by the clock on that date will be chosen for the first phase so promptness is a _mus

t_. This does not, by the way, mean people who are ranked 1-16 in Avalon. If the top people on and willing at that time happen to be ranked 5, 16, 64, 101, 132, 250 etc, they shall compete--so everyone with an interest would do well to show up.

The idea of this phase is that a future god should be both strong of sword/spell and popular support (and to quickly whittle the field down to two people). Competitors will battle to the first X is killed by Y message. People may support favourites by

cedeing their round to them without a fight (or perhaps ceding it to someone who would have a better chance against an unfavourite who may make it to later rounds.)

In the second phase, the two generals will pick their armies and then move to a battlefield. One side will attack the other defend. Raw materials will be provided to each side to construct their method of seige or defence. Only these materials and tho

se carried on each person may be used for the duration of this phase so proper budgeting and planning will be key. (As well as making sure pouches and potions are topped off in advance.)

Points will be given for achieving (or denying) objectives as well as for the members of ones army still left on the field. The positions will be reversed and run once again so that a general can show his/her flexibility.

As mentioned all may put themselves forward as a member of an army, although people holding pacifism will be limited to certain tasks and areas so that their protections can not be abused to the detriment of the other side.

More details shall come.
