Avalon has a quiz-system which enables mortals or Gods to organise and run quizzes. In order to initiate a quiz without divine aid, you will need ten individuals to go to the Meeting Place and ring the bell there. The ten ringers, if in quick enough succession will open a mist portal out of the Avalon continent into the Chamber of Knowldge. After having entered the portal, a Quiz Master must be nominated - this is done by securing a unanimous nomination with four or more voters. Use the NOMINATE command to do this. From there on in, it is up to the Quiz Master to declare rules and manage proceedings.
SCOREBOARD/SB To review the current score board.
REPEAT To repeat the current question.

QUIZWHO Lists the competitors and audience in this Quiz Room.
AUDIENCE List only the audience.
Most Quizzes bestow some prize on the winner and high-placing competitors. There are two methods of quiz prize determination:
Prize is determined by how much has been added, at the start of the quiz, into the "pot" or collected entrance contributions. The INPOT command is used to fill the pot and it receives hard currency crowns and city coin (shilling, ducat, florin, doubloon), lesson credits, gold pieces and items of worth especially artifacts and trinkets!
The Quiz Master decides the exact split of the pot once the winner is decided but the norm is very simple - winner gets 90% of the pot, quiz master gets 10% as a gesture of appreciation for his or her effort.
NOTE: those with all crowned or maximum skills attained have a limit of 100 lessons per pot inclusion.
Prizes are published by the presiding deity (often the Quiz Master) and typically prizes are given not only to the winner but top placing participants and highest placing players from certain categories - like the best ranked junior. The prizes are not based on the POT and INPOT is often not used for this type of Quiz. It is common to find Avalon paper banknotes as standard prize since these can be used in the Old Curiosity Shops to purchase whatever is most desired (see HELP SHOPPING and HELP BANKNOTES).
If you are not a competitor but a member of the audience you will find that, short of leaving, all you can do is applaud, hiss, cheer and clap. The Master of the Quiz decides who competes and who does not.
If you happen to leave Avalon mid-way through a quiz then you will find your score/points retaine dupon your return so long as you rejoin the quiz before it is finished. If you depart / get disconnected and it turns out your points make you the winner, the POT and/or prizes will be held back to be given when next you enter Avalon.
