22.10 The rituals of obescience for Godly marking.

Mortals can, in sufficient groups, perform obeisance to a presiding
deity in order that they might strengthen the markings of one individual
deity or weaken the markings of another. The obeisance ritual takes
place around a sacrificial fire in the presence of one unopposed deity.
The strength of the presiding ritual depends on the combined might of
the mortal performing obeisance.

The sacrificial fire must be made by the leading mortal in the group.
This is done in the usual way for fire-building. The mortals present
must then type OBEISANCE. All mortals present must be performing
obeisance for the ritual to be considered effective. Once all mortals
are in appropriate obeisant mode, the presiding deity steps forth to
command the rites of sacrifice and thus the ritual will begin. The
duration of the ceremony is important for power and impact on the
location is entirely determined by longevity and commitment of those
present. To enflame the fire sufficiently to suitably honour the
presiding deity and to weaken markings sacrifices must be made. These
should be dead animals like wild boars, pigs, oxen, and goats. To add
sacrifices to the fire type SACRIFICE followed by the animal in your
inventory. Much sacrifice is required to complete the ritual.

It takes the passing of an Avalon year for the sacrifice to take effect
on the location. The year must pass without the incumbent deity returning
to re-assert his/her markings. Should the sacrifice and the year-unchallenged
be married successful then a single mark is reduced from the location. When
all marks are removed the location becomes free once more for the presiding
deity to leave a new mark of power their stead.
