27.12 Latest updates and evolutions.
From early May 2011 you will find the most recent gamesystem tweaks, fixes and amendments when you type UPDATES on its own.
Behold! As of April 1st 2011, here are some of the latest tweaks, fixes and additions to Avalon's general gamesystem:
- you can type CLAIMS to review all the guilds in the land and whether any are under occupation-attempt or uner thrall of a city's military
- guilds now publicly declare their "central" location, see HELP CENTRES
- the "cheaptrap" blocker has been activated, to prevent certain too-easy tactics for forcibly leading somebody far into enemy territory, into some trap impossible to escape: long distance onto enemy territory, into a location guarded by the Dragon of Sapience, long distance into a location protected by Globestave Conquistador/Wreathe, long distance into interior barracks, commodity-shed and shop stockrooms, between sepaarted continents, into foreign council chambers or protected locations, into inner guildhouses otherwise restricted. NOTE: this "cheaptrap" blocker will also apply to covert entry to sensitive locations as listed except via 'fair' means.
- a raft of reported bugs have been fixed so you should check your BUGS list and see what remains and what has been removed; and if removed check again (if you want) and you should find the issue resolved.
- youngsters can now take up a junior apprentice phase, before joining a guild proper and get a sample of professional skills. See HELP SELECTIONS. If you're helping a young'un you may want to advise them to check this out.
- TRUESENSE and iorthir (on its own) now use up a small amount of mana, in line with these doing more than once they did (i.e. activating a bigger range of extra sensory percptions). Use ucklice beforehand to mitigate the mana drain.
- Legion construction of field equipment now applies the legion's trained skill, deployment and environment/conditions properly in deciding the end-product, e.g. when making arrows in bulk.
- Legion training has been made quicker and LEGION PROGRESS more accurate.
- LEGION WHERE now gives its info in a more easy-to-read, useful manner.
- containers/boxes/backpacks/sacks: these are all a bit more conservatively limited in what they can contain and how much of it, and some of the 'loopholes' are now closed. Don't rely on any loophole for future storage... do it properly else you risk the contents!
- numerous fixes specifically to such gamesystem evolutions as the bear-form, the werewolf-form, the bat-form, the operation of traps, ents/dryads outside of a tree-rich location or forest, mystic waxes human-nonhuman dependencies, Farsight aggressive strikes, homonculus demons, undead legion decay, tree awakenings, legion underground combat, oil drilling, cooking and cleaning pots, effect of rains and fires and flame, spoils of war (from destroyed legions), redundant or non-functioning guild honours, manymany more places where being lucky (luck potion for instance) is beneficial and ill fortune is detrimental, luddite protections and restrictions expanded, pigeon and hen/rooster breeding (fertilized eggs), guildmaster/guildfavour effectiveness and member rank changes including bestowing elder or removing elder status (see GUILDS for guildmaster longevity), cityfavour and city rank bestowing including nobility (see CITYHELP FAVOUR for example)...

- needless to say the vast majority of the tweaks, fixes and additions are specific to one or other of the guild-only skills so can't be listed out here. So check out your skill lists if you're curious or test out things you know to have been wrong or loopholes you known to have been abused; and do report using the BUG command anything relevant!
