25.13 The Sceptre of the Night guild tournament.

Conflicts between guilds have been commonplace in the land since time immemorial. Each pitted itself against enemies, old and new, in an attempt to assert their philosophies and their pre-eminence on the evolving world. In the year 1081 rumours of an ancient artifact resurfaced and, lately, these rumours have crystallised in the reappearance of the Sceptre of the Night. The guild tournament is the ongoing quest to command possession of this great sceptre, a contest of guildmasters and their members, to unite and fight side by side.

The tournament is begun when the Sceptre of Night appears at the Meeting Place. At this time, guildmasters may enter their guilds into the tournament by touching the sceptre. The master alone may make this decision; no underling has the authority.

Once entered, each death of a guild member will be noted by the sceptre, each slay by a member of that guild likewise. The sceptre will hold tallies, judging the worth of kills and deaths. Olympian mandate will determine the length of the contest. There are no closing points for entering one's guild, no rules specific to the tournament, no limits to the field of battle. You may type GUILDLEAGUE at any time to view the present status of the tournament.

The Sceptre of Night will be won by the mightiest of guilds, in terms of its bloodshed and its members' competence at survival. In honour of this most accomplished of guild, the Sceptre will fall under the command of that guild, spearing the ground at the focal point of that guild. Once in place, the Sceptre will distribute its continuous benefit to that guild and all of its members. Once in place, the Sceptre must be guarded by the guild members, to ensure it is not wrested away by envious rival. Rivals, to wrest away the Sceptre's power, must DOMINATE it unchallenged by defending guild members. It is only when the Sceptre is sufficiently dominated by opposing forces that it will relinquish its position and its boons - to be quested afresh by open tournament.

GUILDLEAGUE      Shows the league table of the guild tournament.
TOUCH SCEPTRE    Guildmasters may enter a guild into the tournament.
DOMINATE SCEPTRE To begin the arduous process of sceptre domination.
